About the Artist… Ron Koziol was born July 27, 1957 in Joliet, Illinois. As a youngster he became intensely interested in the arts, and showed exceptional talent in music as well as the visual arts. A self-taught artist, he is unmistakably an influential new talent who explores the cultural upheaval and artistic confusion as he portrays his own ferocious individualism. In his works his focus is on the use of lines to portray the feeling and meaning of urban life. Koziol has been influenced by the works of Picasso, Van Gogh, Miro and M.C. Escher. His paintings, drawings and environments evoke a fresh, formal synthesis, mixing crude, comic strip figuration with surrealist syntax and marks of abstraction. There is evidence that he has attempted to bring together common experience and personal visions in the context of paint movements, combining such sources as autobiography, myth, and psychology to generate an individual style. Ron has received numerous awards and recognition in previous exhibitions. After a lengthy absence from his art to raise three children as a single parent, Ron is ready and excited to continue his work by teaming up with Donovan Lord Home to bring you reproductions of his art on glass from his personal collection.
