“ Bonnie “

I want to introduce you to “Bonnie “, a painting I produced to bring attention to child abuse. “Bonnie” was later used in a very successful poster campaign to help fight child abuse. Sadly, we all know of an abused child including the possibly of being abused yourself as a child.

When I was an invited speaker to colleges, the Texas Governor’s Conference on Child Abuse for two years and numerous related organizations, I would let the audience know  “Bonnie’s“ narrative is one I have lived through.

 I would open with “Children are born with the right to be loved and have a sense of belonging. When you neglect or abuse a child you rob them of both.”

I have received letters of encouragement from former Texas Governor Ann Richards and famous Washington reporter Sarah McClendon, along with numerous local television talk show interviews. Posted below are some of the letters of recognition I received. As I stated in my Artist bio, I voluntarily put all that away to focus on raising three wonderful kids as a single dad. But now I am getting back to my art and my drums.
